Traffic Control: 61 Citations Issued in Thursday Main Street Operation

The Las Cruces Police Department’s Traffic Unit issued 61 citations during a one-hour enforcement operation Thursday morning along Main Street.

The Las Cruces Police Department’s Traffic Unit issued 61 citations during a one-hour enforcement operation Thursday morning along Main Street.
 
Of the 61 traffic citations, 23 were issued to motorists who exceeded the posted speed limit, 15 to drivers operating a motor vehicle without proper registration and 12 for driving without proof of insurance.

Other citations issued during the operation were for miscellaneous traffic offenses such as driving without a license, failing to stop at a red light and improper child restraints.
 
The traffic enforcement operation, held along north Main Street from Picacho Avenue to Interstate-25, began at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, and lasted about one hour. Similar traffic enforcement operations will likely be held in the coming weeks.
