Breaking Monday Evening: SWAT Team Arrests Man Barricaded Inside Triviz Apartment

The SWAT team made several announcements and LCPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team attempted to make contact with the suspect to no avail.

The Las Cruces Police Department’s SWAT team located and detained a man who barricaded himself in a second story apartment on Triviz Drive Monday evening.

The suspect, 59-year-old Randy Hill, was wanted on a felony warrant for failure to appear on a weapons possession charge.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex at 1050 S. Triviz Dr.

SWAT team was deployed about 4:50 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9. The SWAT team made several announcements and LCPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team attempted to make contact with the suspect to no avail. SWAT introduced several rounds of gas into the apartment but the suspect remained inside.



About 7 p.m. the SWAT team entered the apartment and located Hill hiding inside. He was taken into custody without further incident.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

Neighboring residents either evacuated or were asked to shelter in place. A portion of Triviz Drive was closed while police served the warrant.
