LAFAYETTE, La. – The NM State men’s golf team wrapped up its third tournament of the spring season, finishing sixth at the Louisiana Classics hosted by Louisiana at Oakbourne Country Club. As a team, the Aggies shot 12-under, including shooting 4-under in round three to rank third among all teams in the field.

The team title ultimately went to No. 29 Texas A&M, who shot a combined -24 for the week. Meanwhile, No. 78 Malan Potgieter earned the individual crown, shooting 15-under across the two-day event. With a sixth-place finish, NM State finished ahead of host Louisiana along with Conference USA foes Sam Houston (10th) and Louisiana Tech (13th).

Individually, the Aggies were led by senior Ethan Klose, who carded a 67 (-5) in the opening round and a 72 (E) in round two, before closing the week with a 69 (-3) on Tuesday afternoon to finish the week in a tie for fifth.
Mateo Payán also had a strong performance, posting rounds of 67 (-5), 71 (-1) and 73 (+1) to wrap up the week tied for 12th among the 92-man field. Javier Delgadillo finished tied for 36thand Kostka Horno placed tied for 62nd, while Jackson Funkhouser rounded out the group in a tie for 74th.

NUMBERS OF NOTE
- Ethan Klose and Mateo Payán each tallied a 67 in the first round of play, which was just two strokes off the best first-round score.
- As a team, NM State shot five over par on the par 4s, which was good for third among the field.
- NM State was tied for second in the field in par-5 scoring, shooting 22-under for the week to sit just one stroke behind Michigan.
- With just 38 bogeys, NM State finished first in the field in fewest total bogeys, besting Texas A&M by one.
- With 16 birdies across 54 holes, Ethan Klose ranked tied for second in the field in total birdies by an individual.
