With Honor: NMNG Infantry Battalion begins returning home

FORT BLISS, TEXAS – The first group of Soldiers from the New Mexico Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 200th Infantry, returned home here March 11.

“I am proud to welcome home our New Mexico National Guard Soldiers following their deployment in support of Task Force Horn of Africa,” said Maj. Gen. Miguel Aguilar, the Adjutant General of New Mexico. “Their service overseas is a testament to their professionalism, resilience, and unwavering commitment to duty.”

Brig. Gen. Nathaniel Carper, Deputy Adjutant General and Land Component Commander; Col. Michelle Jaramillo, commander of the 93rd Troop Command; New Mexico Air National Guard Lt. Col. Raul Aragon, and State Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Poccia accompanied Aguilar to greet the returning Soldiers.

“In a demanding operational environment, they represented the New Mexico National Guard and the state of New Mexico with honor and distinction. Their contributions supported an important mission and underscored the value our Soldiers bring to the defense of our nation,” Aguilar said.

“We are grateful for their sacrifice, proud of their accomplishments, and thankful for the families, employers, and communities who supported them throughout this deployment,” he said.

“It is an honor to welcome them home,” Aguilar said.
