On Friday, Tempting Lu posted the fastest qualifying time in the $355,000 West Texas Futurity trials, covering 300 yards in :15.002. Owned by AA Farms, LLC and trained by Eric Valenzuela, the filly was ridden to victory by Jose Luis Enriquez, finishing ahead of Happy Flying Bird and Relentless Tithing in Race 6.

Tempting Lu leads a field of ten qualifiers heading into the April 4 final, with Tater Hill Senator (15.078) and Ab Ms Robyn (15.113) among the top challengers. The West Texas Futurity final will be contested at 300 yards.
On Saturday, Bridger delivered an even faster performance in the New Mexican Spring Futurity trials, stopping the clock at :14.978 to secure the top qualifying position for the $402,000 final. The colt, owned by Tungsten Racing Partnership and Rancho El 48 LLC, is also trained by Valenzuela and was ridden by Jose Enrique Ortiz.

Bridger’s time topped a competitive group that includes Big Avery (15.136) and Royal Dynasty Mrb (15.138), with nine horses securing positions in the final field. The 10th spot was set to be determined by a “shake” — a random draw used when two horses post identical qualifying times — between Bernin Daylight and Start Big after both recorded :15.210.
Both futurity finals are scheduled for Saturday, April 4 at Sunland Park, highlighting a strong early-season showing from regional connections and setting up a pair of high-stakes sprints over 300 yards.
