Las Cruces, NM— The Asylum, an independent film company famous for its cult classic “Sharknado” and shark series franchise, has completed two new two film productions in Las Cruces “Shark Shiver” & “Shark Frenzy.”
When a tropical storm unexpectedly intensifies over a small town in “Shark Shiver,” the resulting storm surge floods the community and brings with it an unprecedented phenomenon: massive numbers of great white sharks driven inland by the turbulent waters. As buildings collapse, power fails, and the floodwater rises higher than anyone anticipated, a family vacation becomes a desperate fight for survival. The Peterson family and the locals they encounter must navigate a flooded urban landscape now inhabited by apex predators, all while racing against time, hypothermia, and the unpredictable power of nature. It’s a harrowing tale of human resilience, family bonds tested to their breaking point, and the primal terror of being hunted while trapped in an increasingly deadly environment.

Film Las Cruces President and Senator Jeff Steinborn, praised The Asylum for bringing their creative film productions to Las Cruces. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome The Asylum’s latest film productions Shark Shiver and Shark Frenzy to Las Cruces. We loved having the amazing cast and crew in Las Cruces and are proud to have showcased our talented film production community and diverse locations that supported these fun movies.”
“Shark Shiver” and “Shark Frenzy” brought an economic boost to the growing Las Cruces film community, employing more than 20 New Mexicans with 15 crew and 5 local cast. In addition to filming in the Mesilla Valley, Shark Frenzy also spent several days filming at Elephant Butte lake.
“Shark Shiver” was directed by Marcel Walz and starred Adam Huss and Gina Vitori.
“Shark Frenzy” was directed by Ryan Ebert, and starred well know actor David Chokachi, original and current cast member of tv series Baywatch.
