Motorcyclist Dies Following Crash on Valley Drive; Road Closures Reported

A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash that prompted the temporary closure of a portion of Valley Drive on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Las Cruces Police Department, the crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at or near the intersection of Valley Drive and Rigsby Road.

The collision involved a motorcycle and an automobile. The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso, where they later died from those injuries.

Details about the cause of the crash have not yet been released.

At the time of the incident, Valley Drive was closed from Avenida de Mesilla to Boutz Road, and Rigsby Road was closed near its intersection with Valley Drive.
