Las Cruces Firefighters Assist County with Hondo Road Fire on Sunday

According to the Las Cruces Fire Department the fire incident began just before 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 26, on the 9400 block of Hondo Road.

Las Cruces firefighters assisted Doña Ana County Sunday with a residential structure fire.

According to the Las Cruces Fire Department the fire incident began just before 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 26, on the 9400 block of Hondo Road. Firefighters aided the county with two engines, a battalion and one truck company. Upon arrival, LCFD encountered heavy wind driven fire conditions.

Firefighters assisted the county with a water supply and suppressing the fire. Due to the high winds, fire progressed throughout the structure including attic space and space below the structure. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, but crews remained on scene for about an hour to ensure hotspots were extinguished.
