Softball: Aggies Fall to Missouri State in Series Opener

Early pitching duel gives way to decisive fifth inning.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – NM State opened the final weekend of the regular season Thursday evening at Killian Stadium, beginning a three‑game road series against Missouri State. In a tightly contested matchup through four innings, pitching and defense kept the game scoreless. Missouri State broke through in the fifth, as NM State fell 4–0 in the series opener. 

Game – Missouri State 4, NM State 0 

The Aggies were held scoreless but generated opportunities throughout the night, putting runners on base in multiple innings. Missouri State accounted for all four runs in the fifth inning. NM State was limited to three hits in the contest and was unable to respond late despite continued pressure at the plate.

NOTABLES 

  • Devin Elam collected a double in the first inning and finished with one of NM State’s three hits. 
  • Madi Bachman went 1‑for‑2 with a double and reached base twice. 
  • Faith Aragon pitched six innings, striking out six while allowing four runs (three earned). 

NEXT UP 

NM State continues the weekend series against Missouri State on Friday, May 1, with first pitch set for 2 p.m. at Killian Stadium, as the Aggies look to even the series.
