Fire Damages Abandoned Building on San Pedro Street in Las Cruces

Just before 2 a.m. Thursday, April 30, firefighters were dispatched to a fire on the 600 block of N. San Pedro Street.

Las Cruces firefighters responded to an abandoned building fire early this morning.

Just before 2 a.m. Thursday, April 30, firefighters were dispatched to a fire on the 600 block of N. San Pedro Street. The first crews to arrive reported heavy smoke from a rear building window. A search was conducted and the building was found to be unoccupied. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reports of injuries.
