Lane’s Double Podium Leads Aggies in Albuquerque

NM State tallies seven top-three finishes at the Don Kirby Tailwind Twilight

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Staying within the Land of Enchantment for the first and only time during outdoor competition, NM State participated in the Don Kirby Tailwind Twilight, hosted by the University of New Mexico. Following an early morning session for the men’s and women’s 10,000m, the rest of the competition began at 5:30 p.m., as the Aggies faced a windy night of action.
The throws team led the way in the Duke City, with five top-three finishes among the group in a trio of events. As well, Aileen Alvarado took the top spot in the high jump, her second event win in Crimson & White this season.

Track Headlines
Julissa Daniels and Angelina Killings opened NM State’s night of competition in Albuquerque, as the duo competed in the 100m dash. The freshman Daniels posted her second-fastest time in the event with NM State at 12.52, while Killings crossed the line with a time of 12.84 – her second-fastest time of the 2025 season.
Andrew Gibby led the NM State men in the 800m, taking second overall with a raw time of 1:53.95 – a new personal best. Joining Gibby in setting a personal best on the day was Jonah Archer, clocking a time of 2:02.20. Angel Maese (2:01.61) and Christian Barreto (2:08.93) debuted in the event.
Murrie Dodge was the lone entrant among Aggies in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the line with a time of 11:59.49 – nearly matching her personal best (11:58.33).
A slew of Aggies took part in the 1500m race on the men’s side of competition, including Orion Chavez, who paced NM State with a raw time of 4:11.80 to take eighth. Joining Chavez in the race were Nick Allred, Jonah Archer, Christian Barreto, Derick Castellanos, Gabriel Uranga and Leo Valenzuela, competing in their final meet of the season.
The quartet of Angel Maese, Andrew Gibby, Orion Chavez and Derick Castellanos closed the night of competition for NM State in the 4x400m relay. Competing alongside Western New Mexico, the Aggies posted a final time of 3:33.39.
Field Headlines
Julissa Daniels and Angelina Killings returned to action later in the evening for the long jump, with Daniels tallying a personal best of 4.95m (16-3″).
Aileen Alvarado took home her second gold medal finish in the high jump this season, posting a best mark of 1.60m (5-3″).
Kylie Rubrecht competed as the only Aggie in the javelin, finishing second overall – her best placement as a member of the Crimson & White.
Alesha Lane led NM State in the discus, finishing second overall with a best mark of 47.58m (156-1″). Freshman Ellie Breckenridge recorded a personal best mark of 36.16m (118-8″) in the event.
Closing out the field events for the Aggies, Alesha Lane once again paced the team in the shot put with a distance of 14.78m (48-6″), securing her second event win during outdoor competition. The Crimson & White held every spot in the top three, with Kamryn Cadle tallying a personal best of 14.58m to take second overall. With this result, Cadle moves into sixth place in program history. Samonne Cauley rounded out the top finishers for the Aggies, finishing in third.

Aggies Perform at LSU Alumni Gold Invite
NM State enters meet amongst eight other programs

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Aggies arrived in Baton Rouge yesterday to battle in a one-day competition amongst eight other schools. Only seven of the Aggies’ normal traveling squad was able to make the distant journey to the marshlands of Louisiana which included a hurdler, two long jumpers, and a handful of sprinters.
Track Headlines
Jhana Downie took home the highest place finish for the Aggies, coming across the line at 23.39 in the 200m, 6th in the field. Breanna Moss also had a strong showing on the track as she would finish the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.24. This was just two seconds off from her best tallied performance in outdoor season which she earned at Sun City Classic on April 11th.
Field Headlines
Leading the Crimson and White on field events was Cameron Hodges, who produced an eighth place over all finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.61m. With this finish, Hodges would earn a new personal best as an Aggie in this event.

The Aggies will travel out to Tucson, AZ and participate in the Desert Heat Classic, hosted by Arizona Wildcats as they wrap up their regular outdoor season before the 2025 CUSA Outdoor Championships.
