DALLAS – Conference USA unveiled its 2024 Volleyball All-Academic Team on Friday, recognizing NM State outside hitter Yasso Amin. The Cairo, Egypt native obtained her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from FIU in December of 2023 and is currently seeking a second degree in Kinesiology. In her time at NM State, Amin has a perfect 4.00 GPA. The All-CUSA Preseason Team selection was one of 11 volleyball student-athletes granted the academic honor by the league.
The sixth-year outside hitter has been a staple for the Crimson & White offense this season. Amin ranks third on the team in kills (256), kills per set (2.64) and is one of seven Aggies with at least 10 service aces this season. The FIU transfer native is among the top five of all Aggies in total digs (142) and digs per set (1.46), making her one of just two Aggies averaging at least 1.00 digs and 1.00 kills per set.
In addition to her All-Conference Preseason Team selection, Amin was also named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16 after an exceptional Borderland Invitational. With Friday’s recognition, Amin has now racked up league hardware on three occasions this season. Last season with FIU, she was named to the All-CUSA First Team after leading the Panthers in hitting percentage (.265) and aces (43).
Amin joins Bianca Perez as the only Aggies thus far to earn a spot on the CUSA All-Academic Team. Perez earned the honor in 2023 after posting a perfect 4.00 GPA as a sophomore studying Chemical Engineering.
