Las Cruces Public Schools

Due to inclement weather, Las Cruces Public Schools will begin all classes two hours later than regular start times on Thursday, Jan. 9. Bus schedules will be adjusted accordingly.

District officials have been in communication with the National Weather Service in Santa Teresa throughout the week and will monitor conditions overnight. Parents and staff are reminded to watch official district communication channels for updates.

Las Cruces Public Schools is on Facebook, Instagram and X. All updates are posted to the district website (www.lcps.net) and through the LCPS smartphone app.

La hora de entrada en las Escuelas Públicas de Las Cruces será dos horas más tarde de lo normal el jueves 9 de enero debido al mal clima. Por lo tanto, también se van a modificar los horarios de los autobuses.

Los funcionarios del distrito han estado en comunicación con el Servicio Nacional de Meteorología en Santa Teresa durante la semana y van a monitorear las condiciones climatológicas durante la noche. Important Update:

Based on the latest weather forecast, low temperatures and potential overnight precipitation are expected to create hazardous road conditions tomorrow morning. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, GISD will implement a two-hour delay for all students and staff on Thursday, January 9th.

Important Weather Update

Due to the forecasted inclement weather, Mesilla Valley Christian School will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday, January 9.

• Secondary students will begin at 10:00 AM.

• Elementary students will begin at 10:15 AM.

We will continue to monitor the weather closely. If there are any further changes, we will notify families promptly via text, Facebook, and our website.

Due to predicted inclement weather, Doña Ana Community College (DACC) will operate on a two-hour delayed start tomorrow, January 9th.

The National Weather Service forecasts snow showers through Friday morning, with below-freezing temperatures overnight and daytime highs in the low 40s. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for our region.

Warming Stations

The Doña Ana County Office of Emergency Management has extended it’s hours at the Delores Wright Community Center in Chaparral. This location will continue to serve as a warming center until 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, including overnight hours. Doña Ana County is committed to helping residents stay warm and safe during this cold weather. If you need a warm place, we’re here for you — come on over!

The National Weather Service indicated a Winter Weather Advisory January 7-10 where snow may be possible, and winds gusting to 40 mph. The City of Las Cruces invites those in need of warmth and shelter to visit our designated facilities during the following times:
