Technical Rescue Team Assists in Organ Mountain Callout
Members of the Las Cruces Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team joined Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue, Organ Search and Rescue, New Mexico State Police and the Bureau of Land Management to locate and help two hikers who became disoriented in the Organ Mountains on Sunday evening.
LCFD’s TRT was activated about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, after two hikers were reported to be lost in the Dripping Springs area of the Organ Mountains.
Temperatures decrease rapidly this time of year after sunset, and especially at that elevation.
All rescue teams worked together to locate the two hikers and safely guide them off the trail. No injuries were reported.
Rescue teams completed the mission shortly before 3 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20.
