DALLAS – Kennesaw State’s Simeon Cottle and Braedan Lue earned Conference USA Men’s Basketball weekly honors. The 2024-25 Players of the Week are voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
CUSA Player of the Week – Simeon Cottle, Kennesaw State – Jr. – G – College Park, Ga.
Cottle claims his third CUSA Player of the Week honor of the season after leading the Owls (11-7, 3-2 CUSA) to a 2-0 week. The junior guard averaged 22.5 points in the victories over Sam Houston and LA Tech. In Thursday’s overtime win over the Bearkats, Cottle tallied 19 points with four assists and a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. He then finished with a team-high 25 points while going 3-6 from downtown in a tight 78-76 triumph over the Bulldogs to remain unbeaten at home (9-0).
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Braedan Lue, Kennesaw State – Fr. – F – Douglasville, Ga.
Lue becomes the third rookie Owl this season to earn CUSA Freshman of the Week recognition. The freshman forward turned in his best week of the campaign after averaging 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 50 percent (14-28) from the floor. He collected his first career double-double on 17 points and 10 boards against the Bearkats and converted a layup for the eventual game-winning bucket in overtime. In Kennesaw State’s win over LA Tech, 13 of his 19 points came in the second half, which included a run of eight straight points to begin the frame.
