DALLAS – UTEP’s Otis Frazier III and Jacksonville State’s Quel’Ron House earned Conference USA Men’s Basketball weekly honors. The 2024-25 Players of the Week are voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
CUSA Player of the Week – Otis Frazier III, UTEP – Sr. – G/F – Buckeye, Ariz.
Frazier III is tabbed CUSA Player of the Week after averaging 17.0 points on 50 percent shooting with 5.5 steals, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 1-1 week for the Miners (15-5, 5-2 CUSA) who sit in a tie for first place. The senior dropped 17 points, a school-record tying eight steals, five boards and three assists while playing 38 minutes in a hard-fought 73-71 victory over Kennesaw State on Saturday. Frazier’s effort helped UTEP rally from a nine-point second half deficit as he assisted Ahamad Bynum for a game-tying 3-pointer as a part of a 9-0 Miner run.
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Quel’Ron House, Jax State – Fr. – G – Louisville, Ky.
House claims his first CUSA Freshman of the Week honors after propelling Jax State (13-7, 5-2 CUSA) to a 2-0 week with road victories over UTEP and NM State. The freshman guard averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds in the pair of wins. In Thursday’s contest at UTEP, House tallied 14 points, five assists and four boards. He followed up with an 11-point outing on Saturday against NM State, once again finishing with five assists and five rebounds. These performances mark the fourth and fifth time this season he has finished in double figures.
