Our community has shared with us concerns about recent changes to immigration enforcement announced by the federal government. We are continuing to monitor information as it becomes available.

We have been sharing stories of Cariño in Las Cruces for the last year, and we recognize that Cariño is not just a City initiative, but the character of our community.

In 2017, City Council adopted a resolution declaring Las Cruces a welcoming city. We are committed to providing services and programs in an inclusive and non-discriminatory way, regardless of immigration and citizenship status. We provide public places that should be considered accessible and safe spaces that improve the quality of life for all our residents. Just a few examples include Zero Fare Transit, Las Cruces Public Libraries, Las Cruces Museums, and our parks. For more information, you can read the resolution by going to https://publicrecords.las-cruces.org/WebLink/Browse.aspx… and searching for R 18-007.

In addition to safe spaces for our community, we are also committed to being a workplace of choice where everyone’s contributions are valued. We will continue our DEIB – Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging – efforts because we know that different voices and perspectives make us better! It is important to us that our organization reflects our community and includes people that come from many different backgrounds and experiences.

Every member of our community is important and deserves respect from the City and we are committed to continuing to make Las Cruces a Welcoming Community.
