LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Traveling a lighter roster to the Dr. MLK Jr. Invitational last weekend, NM State returns to Albuquerque for the New Mexico Team Open, hosted by the University of New Mexico. Action begins at the two-day meet on Friday, Jan. 31 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Fans can follow along with the action live on FloSports, with live results available at this link.

The Starting Line
- The Aggies return north for the New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque – the second of three straight meets in the city. The two-day meet is slated to begin with the weight throw at 3:30 p.m. MT on Friday afternoon, with the second day of action starting at approximately 9:30 a.m. MT.
- NM State will compete alongside programs such as Alabama, Arizona State, California, Stanford, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and host New Mexico among others.
- As a team, the Crimson & White will compete in 13 events: 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, mile, 3000m, 60m Hurdles, 4x400m relay, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put and weight throw.

- While Jhana Downie will return to the Aggies for outdoor competition in the spring, Rebecca Green and Aliyah Logan will complete their careers with the Crimson & White this winter.

Marlee Cavitt – 60m dash (7.59 seconds)
Amanda Radava – 800m (2:16.10), Mile (5:03.21)
Alesha Lane – Weight Throw (15.53 meters)

- After opening their season in Lubbock, the Aggies finds themselves among the best of Conference USA, with student-athletes currently ranked inside the top-10 in multiple different event categories including:

Fresh Faces
- Following the departure of a historic senior class, the Aggies welcome a multitude of new student-athletes, with a wealth of accolades ready to make their mark on the Crimson & White.
- After competing with the cross country team in the fall, Khloi Bird, Alexandra Ordaz and Amanda Radava are set to make their NM State debut on the track.
- Sprinters making their first runs with the Aggies in 2025 include Julissa Daniels, Jaylah McDonnell, Sahara Tasker and Marlee Cavitt.
Dual Sport Star
- Sophomore Marlee Cavitt is set to continue her track & field career with NM State after transferring from the University of Portland last summer. In one of the most unique situations in the nation, Cavitt is also a member of the NM State Soccer team, becoming a pivotal member of the backline defense in her debut season. Playing and starting all 20 contests, the Sacramento, Calif., native finished third on the team in minutes played (1,575).
- Cavitt competes in short sprint events for the Aggies, currently ranking inside the top-11 in the conference in the 60m dash (8th) and 200m dash (11th).
One Year Ago… | New Mexico Collegiate Classic | 2.2-3.24
- Senior Jhana Downie, already holding the program record in the 200m after her performance at the 2023 WAC Championships (23.65 seconds), took first in her heat and second overall after posting a time of 23.52 – breaking her own school record.
- Leading off the final day from Albuquerque was the shot put, where Rebecca Green’s mark of 16.10m not only gave her a sixth-place finish and the school record but also earned her qualification for the USATF Indoor Championships, held at the Albuquerque Convention Center Feb. 16-17.
- Making her second event debut in as many days after competing in the 600m run on Friday night, freshman Marlene Mosqueda was the lone Aggie to suit up in the 800m run, recording a time of 2:31.81 to finish her weekend.
