City of Las Cruces Promotes “Neighborhood Dumpster Day”

The Parks and Recreation Department’s Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program (KLCB) will host a Neighborhood Dumpster Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024.

Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB) will provide open-top trash containers for the community to dump yard waste, household trash, and other permittable items for FREE. KLCB staff will be available to provide support, and program information, and guide users regarding the requested household items to be tossed into the containers. 

Open-top containers will be available to residents at: 

  • Paz Ball Park parking lot, 1631 E. Hadley Ave., at the corner of Hadley Avenue and Walnut Street.
  • Tony Gomez Park, 2283 S. Espina St.
  • Henry R. Benavidez Community Center, 1045 McClure Road.

Items NOT allowed in an open-top solid waste container include: 

  • Medical waste (per section 20.9.8.8 NMAC of the New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations).
  • Hot ashes or coals.
  • Tires or any vehicle parts, including car batteries.
  • Fluorescent light bulbs.
  • Large yard waste items, such as stumps or trunks.
  • Concrete, bricks, and or rocks.
  • Toxic, combustible, or hazardous materials.
  • Toilets or sinks.
  • Refrigerators, or anything with refrigerant.
  • Animal carcasses.

Locations of open-top containers will be monitored. Residents must unload their items.
