The Comprehensive Roadway Safety Action Plan includes strategies aimed at reducing fatalities and serious injuries on county roads. Completion of the Action Plan also makes the county eligible to submit applications for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Implementation Grant under the Safe Streets and Roads for All, SS4A Grant Program as well as other competitive funding opportunities.

During these public events, the consultant team will share ideas and materials to help residents become safety champions and improve roadway safety for all.

The study, funded by a competitive federal grant and local funds was conducted over the past year, with input from hundreds of residents who flagged dangerous traffic areas and Road & Engineering Department staff.

“We very much appreciate the public’s input and the time they took to identify areas where our roads are not safe,” County Manager Scott Andrews said. “With their help, the recommendations are more robust and will help us prioritize and seek funding to help make our roads and streets safer for everyone.”
