Breaking: Las Cruces Police Identify Woman in February 13 Crash

he woman killed in last week’s rollover crash at the intersection of Griggs Avenue and Hermosa Street has been identified as 24-year-old Sheila Nava of Las Cruces.

Nava was driving a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer, heading south on Hermosa, when it was struck broadside by a Chevy Impala that was westbound on Griggs. Traffic investigators believe the Trailblazer ran a stop sign before it was struck.

Investigators determined Nava was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected as the Trailblazer rolled over at least once. Nava was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.

The driver of the Impala, a 22-year-old woman, was not seriously injured.

No charges or traffic citations are expected to be filed in this crash.
