Breaking: New Mexico State Police in Doña Ana County arrest wanted El Paso fugitive

Chavez was wanted by the El Paso Police Department in connection with a shooting that occurred in El Paso, TX, on February 15, 2025.

Mesquite, NM – On February 18. 2025 the New Mexico State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU) was contacted by the El Paso Police Department requesting assistance in locating Raul Chavez, 20, of Mesquite. Chavez was wanted by the El Paso Police Department in connection with a shooting that occurred in El Paso, TX, on February 15, 2025.

With the assistance of the New Mexico State Police Special Operations Bureau, FAU agents located Chavez at his residence in Mesquite. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center on his Texas arrest warrant.
