Tomorrow, four local teams will begin their run for the “Blue Trophy” that signifies a New Mexico State Championship. The Girls 5A bracket holds three local teams: Mayfield, Las Cruces and Centennial. Mesilla Valley Christian is representing our broader community in Class 2A.
Both Las Cruces and Mesilla Valley Christian had “matched sets” in the brackets, this year. Each school has both a Boys and Girls team in this year’s tournament. The SonBlazers hold a high seed in the 2A tournment, while the Bulldawgs will be playing spoiler from tip off, joining conference and city rival Organ Mountain in Boys 5A action.
In all, seven teams from five local schools will take to the court this weekend. Round One matches will be at the home location of the higher seeded team, spreading the competition throughout New Mexico. Tickets for the 1st Round of the 2025 Nusenda Credit Union State Basketball Championships can be purchased at by going to gofan.co/nmaa.
Subsequent rounds will be held at one of two locations up north: “the Pit” and the Rio Rancho Evens Center.

Boys 5A (Upper Left Quadrant of Bracket)
Two area schools made this year’s 5A Boys Championship bracket. The Organ Mountain Knights, ranked 6th in the latest MaxPreps poll, was seeded #5. They will play Farmington in the first round at “the Castle”. The second area team is the Las Cruces Bulldawgs. Their ranking matches their seeding, 15, and will travel to Hobbs for their first round match.

Boys 2A (Lower Left Quadrant of Bracket)
Mesilla Valley Christian (5) is the only local team in Class 2A, and they made the bracket. Their latest MaxPreps ranking matches their seeding at 5. They will host 10th ranked Mora in Las Cruces for Round One.

The Girls 5A bracket is our most stacked bracket with three local schools representing our broader community in the State 2025 Championships. 4th ranked and 3-seed Mayfield will host Roswell, Friday, March 7, 2025. Both Las Cruces and Centennial will hit the road to play their respective first round opponents.
