COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Despite outhitting Texas A&M, NM State couldn’t convert their offensive opportunities in a 7-1 loss at Blue Bell Park on Saturday afternoon.

NM State (7-7) recorded 11 hits to Texas A&M’s 10, but stranded 13 runners on base and committed two costly errors that helped the home team pull away early.
Starting pitcher Hayden Lewis kept Texas A&M scoreless through two innings before things unraveled in the third. After a leadoff single, Texas A&M’s Kaeden Kent tripled to drive in the first run of the game. A sacrifice fly extended NM State’s deficit to 2-0.
The fourth inning proved even more challenging as Texas A&M plated four runs, highlighted by Kent’s two-run double that capped a rally that included a hit-by-pitch and an error.
NM State’s lone run came in the sixth inning when Dane Woodcook singled up the middle to bring home Mitch Namie, who had reached on a single earlier in the frame. That was as close as NM State would get, as Texas A&M added another insurance run in the bottom half of the inning to finalize the score at 7-1.
The Aggies had runners on base in seven of the nine innings but could only muster one run. NM State’s lineup combined for 11 hits, led by Namie, Woodcook, and Gianni Horvat, who each tallied two. Lewis took the loss, while relievers Dylan Weekly and Carson Timmons combined to limit further damage.
