City Council recognized Lt. Mark Aranda with the Las Cruces Fire Department for his induction into the New Mexico State University Athletics Hall of fame on February 14, 2025 for his collegiate baseball career.

Aranda was a star baseball player at NMSU and is considered one of the most prolific hitters in Aggie history. In just two seasons, 2004-2005, Aranda tallied 38 home runs, 136 hits and 142 RBI while maintaining a .349 batting average, a .437 on-base percentage and a .733 slugging percentage. In 2005, he led the nation in RBI and was named a Louisville Slugger All-American.
