Aggies Cruise Past Sam Houston to Wrap Up Regular Season Play

NM State gains momentum heading into CUSA Tournament.

On a sunny Friday afternoon at the NM State Tennis Center, the NM State women’s tennis team delivered a dominant 4-0 sweep over Sam Houston to close out the regular season on a high note.

The Aggies came out firing in doubles play. Dora Kurdi and Whitney Moon were credited with a win by default on court three to give NM State an early edge. Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Lisa Zhu made quick work of their opponents on court two, posting a flawless 6-0 victory to clinch the doubles point. On the top court, the duo of Nadia Nemeth and Anna Pinaieva held a 5-4 lead before their match went unfinished. 

NM State continued to roll in singles action. Nemeth picked up a default win at No. 6 singles, quickly extending the Aggies’ lead. Dora Kurdi followed with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 victory on court five, and Whitney Moon sealed the match with a 7-5, 6-1 win on court three. 

Other matches went unfinished as the Aggies secured the overall team win. Pinaieva was locked in a tight battle at the top spot, trailing 4-6, 3-3, while Zhu led 6-2, 4-1 on court two. Parkinson-Lubold’s match on court four was tied at one set apiece when play was halted.
