“We won’t back down—we’ll keep defending Albuquerque’s small businesses even when the Trump administration turns its back on entrepreneurs.”

Dear Valued Business Owner,
We hope this message finds you well. At the City of Albuquerque, we stand with the entrepreneurs, innovators, and small business owners who help drive our economy forward. Supporting your success remains one of our top priorities.
Recently, the Trump administration abruptly terminated federal funding for the New Mexico Minority Business Development Agency Business Center (NM MBDA)—a vital program that has assisted over 650 businesses, helped generate more than $230 million in revenue, and contributed to the creation or retention of nearly 7,500 jobs in our state. Despite this unexpected loss of federal support the City of Albuquerque is taking proactive steps to continue serving our diverse business community.
The Business Resource Center, home to the Small Business Office and the former NM MBDA, remains open and operational. We continue to offer access to free business advising, licensing assistance, startup support, workshops, and technical services. While the loss of funding is disappointing, it will not deter the progress we’ve built together. As Mayor Tim Keller affirmed, “We won’t back down—we’ll keep defending Albuquerque’s small businesses even when the Trump administration turns its back on entrepreneurs.”
We believe Albuquerque’s economy thrives when every entrepreneur has access to resources and opportunity. If your Albuquerque business needs support, we invite you to visit the Business Resource Center at 700 4th St SW or explore our services online at cabq.gov/economicdevelopment.
