TUCSON, Ariz. – The Aggies wrapped up the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon – finishing fourth out of 14 in the 54-hole, two-day event after combining to post a final score of 879 (+15). This also marks the Aggies best team finish in the 12 years that they have been competing in the event host by the University of Arizona. Previously, the Aggies best finish was a tie for fifth which came in 2014.
In a display of consistency, all five Aggies finished within just one stroke of each other on the final individual leaderboard. This was led by the grouping of Javier Delgadillo, River Smalley and Alvaro Morales who each logged three-round scores of 222 (+6) to finish tied for 22nd amid the 79-player field. Meanwhile, Alexandre Bauduin and Anthony Lara both submitted final scores of 223 (+7) to finish tied for 28th.
For Lara, the finish came on the heels of a final round 70 (-2) which represented the lowest score by any Aggie during the final round of action. This was also good for the seventh-best score for the final round and the best 18-hole score among Aggies this week.
During the third round, the five Aggies combined to shoot 16 birdies and one eagle which was turned in by Alexandre Bauduin on the first hole of the day. Bauduin’s eagle was also one of just 23 eagles for the entire tournament.
