Missouri Tank Shutdown and Warranty Inspection in Las Cruces

Missouri tank will be isolated and shut down for its one-year warranty inspection.

Missouri Tank was rehabilitated last year and needs to be inspected for quality assurance according to New Mexico state regulations and contract guidelines.

Water Production and Distribution crews will be isolating the tank during the early morning hours on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Following inspection, the tank will be brought back up and on-line by late evening Friday, April 5, 2024. This work will be in City Council District 2.

Due to the impact Missouri tank has on Las Cruces’ water system, discolored water and quality issues may arise. Adjacent areas also may be affected by this outage.

Residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, all faucets in the residence should be flushed for five minutes.

If the discoloration remains, call the City at (575) 526-0500 for assistance. The TTY phone number is (575) 541-2182.
