The Hatch Valley Bears take home three gold medals in this year’s State Powerlifting Championships, earning the most State Championships of any school in our broader community thus far this year. Las Cruces Digest reported that 37 local student athletes qualified for the event [here].
Super Heavyweight (SHW) Juan Polino lifted 1195 lbs, earning gold for Hatch Valley High School as lifter number 34.
Ignacio Pinon lifted a total weight of 1265 lbs., making him a back-to-back champion. Earning gold for Hatch Valley High School in the 242 weight class, Igancio was lifter number 32 for the event.
Elizabeth Elias lifted a total of 715 lbs. to bring home the gold for the Bears.
Taylor Rogers earned Gold to go with her green by lifting a combined 520 lbs. in the 114 weight division.
Zantelle Rodriguez lifted a combined 780 lbs. in the 165 weight class, bring home the Hawks only gold in the event.
