Hawks take Title in spectacular fashion, retiring the Alamogordo Tigers on a line drive double play.

District 3-5A was well represented in the 2024 State Championships with four squads going deep into the bracket. Organ Mountain was the first 3-5A team elminated, falling 7-0 to Centennial in Round 2. Mayfield was knocked out in Round 3 by Centennial. After defeating La Cueva 5-1 in Round 4, the Hawks of Centennial were faced with their 3rd district rival, and District 3-5A Champion, Alamogordo. Rising from the secondary bracket, the Hawks would have to win two consecutive games against the Tigers.
Game 1 was all Centennial. The Hawks winning in decisive fashion, 6-0:

Game 2 was a nip-and-tuck affair, with the Hawks holding off the Tigers in the top of the 7th with spectacular heads up defensive play. A line drive back to Pitcher, Caprice Barela, was quickly caught and converted with a smart force out throw to 2nd Baseman, Stevie Jiménez. Hawks win 6-5. (See video of play, below)
