After breaking the ice with those present, Sherrif Stewart explained the significant contribution to securing this needed equipment to retired Captain, Jeremy Hash. The Sherrif went as far as unofficially naming the vehicle the “Hash” Mobile. With retired Captain, Jeremy Hash, at her side, Sherrif Kim Stewart unveiled the impressive new rig, and the two proceeded to christen it.

Who is Jeremy Hash?

Read about Captain Jeremy Hash (Retired) from the press release issued on Facebook by Doña Ana County.

Jeremy Hash joined the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy in September 2008. He was promoted to Investigator in 2011 and to Sergeant in 2013. He was again promoted to Lieutenant in June 2018 and became Captain in 2021.

In his current role, Capt. Hash supervises detectives, victim advocates, the Intelligence Unit, Project Lifesaver and the Evidence section. He spends most of his time working with detectives and overseeing the most critical scenes that the department faces.

He has a unique gift for developing procedures that include checks and balances which ensure that work is done right and on time. But what he considers his “superpower” is caring for all the employees he supervises and their lives, both at work and at home.

The changes Capt. Hash implemented to rebuild CID into the highly professional and accomplished division it currently is was hard-fought. Over the past eight years, this division has had success in solving multiple homicides and identifying a slain little girl killed in 1985. The outcome of these cases are a direct reflection of the monumental efforts made by Capt. Hash and his team. He reshaped the way criminal investigations are done in Doña Ana County and the results will have a lasting effect.

Major Day said, “He truly impacted this department, this community and me in such a positive manner that he will be missed greatly, but his legacy will live on.”

Capt. Hash thanks his family for the sacrifices they made throughout his career, from holidays to birthdays and many other family activities without him, so he could pursue the career that made him happy. They sacrificed so much for him. He hopes he can make up for lost time and wholeheartedly support their life goals, success, and happiness.

Please join us in thanking Capt. Jeremy Hash for 14 years of dedicated commitment to the safety of Doña Ana County residents and congratulating him on his retirement. We wish him and his family all the best in this new life chapter!
