Post was previously associate dean of academic affairs for the college and is a professor of kinesiology. He also served as head of the Department of Kinesiology and is the co-director and founder of the Electronic Caregiver Virtual/Augmented Reality Laboratory at NMSU.

He earned his Ph.D. in exercise and sport sciences from the University of Tennessee. He also holds a master’s degree in kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Post said he is honored to step into the interim dean role.

“With a deep commitment to our mission of driving social change through education, research and outreach, I am eager to lead our efforts in discovering innovative solutions in health, education and social sciences,” Post said. “My focus will be on laying a solid foundation for the next permanent dean, advancing our strategic plan in alignment with NMSU LEADS 2025, advocating for our priorities with state legislators, enhancing budget and HR operations, and fostering stronger connections with donors and alumni.”

NMSU interim Provost Lakshmi Reddi said as associate dean for academic affairs, Post “has spearheaded initiatives to enhance student success, refine academic programming, and advance diversity, equity and inclusion. Dr. Post has also assisted in managing the college’s budget and HR operations, and served as the college’s liaison to the Office of Government Relations, advocating for HEST’s priorities at both state and federal levels. This experience will serve him well and allow him to hit the ground running as interim dean.”

Post’s appointment as interim dean comes after College of HEST inaugural dean, Yoshi Iwasaki, announced he is stepping down from the position effective Thursday, Aug. 15, for a faculty role.

A search for a permanent dean will begin later this year.
