The kickoff to the rivalry will be held this weekend on Saturday August 17th from 9am -1pm at the Field of Dreams Softball Complex. This is a one-of-a-kind student only event where students from both schools will be admitted if they have their student ID and a can of food to donate to charity.
Students must always have their ID on them and once they leave, there is no re-entry. Here students will compete against each other in a series of tailgate style games including the return of the Booster Chili Cook-Off.
Leading up to the main event a staff vs staff kickball showdown. We invite you to write a story and report on this amazing event. This is the beginning of a series of competitions including hall decorating, assemblies, and bonfires.
The winner of each event receives points. The football game is worth 5 points. If the score is within that amount, the football game will determine the winner.
The winner will receive a customized trophy created by MHS students with MHS on one side of the trophy and LCHS on the other. The victor will then give the trophy to the loser of the rivalry, who is instructed to put the trophy in the front of their front office with the Winner side facing out, so that everyone who walks in must see the other schools name and Rivalry Winner.
This trophy will remain until the losing school wins the trophy back and delivers it. For questions, contact Principal Eric Fraass, 527-9415, or Athletic Coordinator Caleb Hull at 575-635-1547.
