The Museum of Nature & Science, 411 N. Main St., will host “Plutomania!” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024.

This is a free, family event that is open to the public.

Every year, the museum honors the birthday of local astronomer and hero, Clyde Tombaugh. The Museum of Nature & Science will celebrate Tombaugh’s life, his impact on planetary science, and space exploration including highlighting NASA’s New Horizon Mission, current space exploration, local astronomy, and the impact he has had in Las Cruces and beyond.

Hands-on activities and presentations for all ages will be provided by the museum. The event will feature special guests, including the New Mexico Museum of Space History, the NMSU Astronomy Department, White Sands National Parks, Spaceport America, Las Cruces Public Libraries, and more.

Plutomania will also feature a special demonstration from the New Mexico Museum of Space History from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Museum of Nature and Science classroom.
