Conference USA revealed its Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday, with NM State’s Yasso Amin headlining the announcement as the Sept. 16 Offensive Player of the Week. The graduate outside hitter was exceptional throughout the Borderland Invitational, leading the Aggies to a 2-1 record that included two sweeps.

Amin paced the Aggies in nearly every offensive category over the weekend as her squad racked up straight-set victories over Texas Southern and Abilene Christian. The Egypt native poured in 37 kills (3.70 per set) and just six errors across ten sets, posting an impressive .388 hitting percentage over three matches. Amin added three blocks and two service aces, tallying 12 denials and seven aces thus far in 2024. On defense, her 25 digs (2.50 per set) also ranked third on the team. Amin posted 22 kills and a .553 hitting percentage on Friday alone, before posting 15 more efficient kills in four sets against Arizona on Saturday.

NM State has now claimed two of the first three Offensive Player of the Week awards. Starr Williams picked up the honor after the first week of the season, when she put up 30 kills on a staggering .560 hitting percentage versus two 2023 NCAA Tournament representatives.

Amin was named to the 2023 All-CUSA First Team, and earned a spot on the league’s All-Conference Preseason Team in August. However, this marks Amin’s first weekly honor. The sixth-year star has made two previous stops within CUSA; UTEP (2021) and FIU (2022-23).

Amin and the Aggies will be back in action tomorrow at 6:30 PM as they commence a four-match week. The squad will travel north to Albuquerque for the first Battle of I-25 in five years, before hosting the Lobos two days later, on Thursday at 6:00 PM. NM State will also host Southern on Friday at 6:00 PM and Incarnate Word on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Tuesday’s matchup at New Mexico will be streamed live on Mountain West Network, while all the action from the Pan American Center will be available on ESPN+ and StatBroadcast.
