NM State continued its strong showing on day two of the Aggie Invitational, earning five victories, including four in singles action.
Freshman Nadia Nemeth continues to impress, notching wins in both singles and doubles for the second consecutive day. Nemeth teamed up with returner Whitney Moon to secure the Aggies’ sole doubles win, defeating UTEP’s Paloma Hennicaux and Wendy Zhang 6-2. She followed that up with a dominant singles performance, beating Western New Mexico’s Jenna Kastell 6-1, 6-2
Team leaders Anna Pinaieva and Lisa Zhu stayed consistent, each picking up singles wins for the second day in a row. Pinaieva blanked Gabriella Blumberg (WNMU) 6-0, 6-0, while Zhu cruised past Andreea Arnautu (WNMU) 6-0, 6-2. Varvara Nikolaeva added to the Aggies’ success, defeating Lucia Carmena (WNMU) 6-0, 6-1 in singles.
The Aggie Invitational concludes tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m. with doubles play.
