Aggie women record a second-place finish, while men take the fourth.

Returning to action, the Aggies made their first journey outside the state of New Mexico this season for the Dave Murray Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28. NM State showed a lot of improvement at the meet, with more than a dozen personal bests set. Taking to the line first, Thomas Croshaw led the NM State men with an eighth-place finish, while junior Khloi Bird took the top spot in the women’s race, leading to a runner-up finish for the Crimson & White.
In the Aggies’ first 8K of the season, Northern Arizona paced the field, recording the top six finishes. Sophomore Thomas Croshaw took the top result following the swarm of Lumberjacks, posting a new personal best with a time of 23:31.6. This is the second personal record set by the Albuquerque native this season, following a new 5K best at the NM State hosted Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Open.
Alongside Croshaw, Arizona transfer Andrew Gibby posted his best result in the 8K, taking 20th overall with a time of 24:18.1. For the second week in a row, Orion Chavezrecorded the top finish among Aggie freshman, crossing the line with a time of 24:50.1 in his first collegiate 8K.
Nick Allred and Christian Barreto rounded out the strong performances from the Aggies, posting personal bests on the day with times of 24:54.3 and 26:10.8 respectively.
In the women’s 6K, Khloi Bird built up to a solid performance, taking the top spot among Aggies with an 11th place result and a time of 21.52.5. This is a personal best in the 6K for the Topeka, Kan., native.
Following behind Bird, five of the next six athletes to cross the finish line represented the Crimson & White, with Rachel O’Brien (21:56.7), Jordan Torres (22:08.0), Amanda Radava (22:11.7), Kayla O’Connell (22:11.9) and Marlene Mosqueda (22:14.9) all posting new personal bests on the day.
Valeria Macias Casas continues to show improvement for NM State, recording an improved pace and an NM State best time of 22:57.0, while Mari Gallegos (22:31.6), Trista Cordova (22:54.3) and Nya Valenzuela (25:01.3) recording new bests in Tucson.

The Aggies will suit up one last time in the regular season as they head to College Station for the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18. This is one of the largest cross country meets in the nation, with nearly 800 participants at the 2023 edition of the Arturo Barrios Invitational.
