Fire Damages Lumber Warehouse

A warehouse and several stacks of lumber burned before Las Cruces firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze on Saturday.

Shortly before noon on Saturday, Sept. 28, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at L & P Building Supply at 101 N. Archuleta Rd. Crews arrived to find a warehouse and several stacks of lumber burning.

Firefighters attacked the blaze and were able to get the warehouse fire under control within about 20 minutes. Several stacks of lumber had to be removed by forklift to attack and extinguish the burning material.

Two dozen firefighters assisted with the callout.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported, and damage estimates have yet to be determined.
