NM State Closes Out Fall Season With 12th Place Finish at Dale McNamara Invitational

Emma Bunch records eighth top ten regular season finish.

The NM State women’s golf team put an end to its slate of fall tournaments as it closed out the final round of the Dale McNamara Invitational at Cedar Ridge Country Club.

The Aggies ended the two-day event in 12th place after posting a combined score of 927 (+75) – finishing ahead of Rutgers, Tulane, South Florida and Conference USA opponent Kennesaw State. Arkansas would take home the team title at the Dale McNamara Invitational after combining to shoot a score of 858 (+6) to win the event by 21 strokes.
 
Individually, the Aggies were led by junior Emma Bunch who extended her streak of top-ten finishes in regular season play to eight tournaments after shooting 73-71-76 to finish at 220 (+7) for the week. This week’s top-ten finish came among a field which included Power Four programs Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and BYU.
 
On the week, Bunch finished tied for fifth in average scoring on both the par 3s (3.00) and the par 5s (4.67). Additionally, Bunch was one of just four players in the 84-woman field to record an eagle during the 54-hole event.
 
NM State also received a strong showing from Marley Moncada who managed the best performance of her collegiate career to finish in a tie for 22nd. On Tuesday, Moncada carded a 74 (+3) to advance three spots up the leaderboard while finishing with a career-best 54-hole score of 224 (+11). On the week, Moncada was tied for fifth in total birdies with 10.
 
Isa Laulhé turned in the Aggies’ third-best performance of the week as she posted a 240 (+27) to place in a tie for 65th. Meanwhile Angela Garvin finished tied for 74th with a score of 244 (+31) and Kaylee Chen finished 84th with a score of 255 (+42).

This concludes the Aggies’ fall slate and they will not return to action until Feb. 15 when they travel to Palm Desert, Calif., to compete in the Allie & John Wallace Classic hosted by Long Beach State University.
