Take Back Day gives individuals the opportunity to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country in a safe, convenient, and responsible way. Find out how you can sponsor a take back location on your campus by reading a letter signed by DEA, the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, and NASPA–Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.

This event, which happens twice a year, is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country. Find a location near you.

The April 2024 Take Back Day brought in 670,136 lbs. (335 tons) of medication. Get more details about the most recent Take Back Day numbers. 

This brings the total amount of prescription drugs collected by DEA since the fall of 2010 to more than 18.5 million pounds (9,285 tons) of medication.
