County to hold unclaimed burial ceremony on October 23

The remains of 36 people will be buried on Wednesday, October 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery East, located at 100 S. Espina St., Las Cruces. The ceremony will honor individuals who passed away without family or loved ones coming forward to claim the remains. The ceremony will be open to the public.

The unclaimed remains of military veterans are buried each year at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with full military honors. 

Cremains may be claimed by family or friends, by calling Stephanie Barrera at 575-525-5866.
