Following a win in their season debut and home opener earlier in the month, the NM State swimming and diving team will return to action this week as they travel to Colorado for a pair of meets. On Thursday, the Aggies will take on the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., at the Colorado School of Mines Natatorium. The following day, NM State will compete against WAC foe Northern Colorado at the Butler-Hancock Pool in Greeley, Colo.

THE STARTING BLOCK
• NM State will embark on its first road trip of the season as they head to Colorado for a pair of meets on back-to-back days. Including this weekend, the Aggies will compete in four road dual meets this season, including a trip to New Mexico to wrap up the regular season.
• The Aggies last matchup against Colorado School of Mines came in 2022 when NM State defeated the Orediggers 139-83 in Las Cruces.
• The Crimson and White opened its season on October 4 when it hosted North Texas and earned a 138-104 victory.
• This year’s Aggie roster includes two seniors, 10 juniors, eight sophomores and 11 freshmen. NM State will be led by First Team All-WAC honorees Emily DobbinsNaomi SleeKodi Wiman and Katie Rink. Additionally, the Aggies return nine Second Team All-WAC honorees in Estel GaloThea MasselinkRiley CrespoMira TinaniKathryn GydeEmily DobbinsKatie RinkDreamer Kowatch and Naomi Slee.
• Both meets this weekend are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. (MDT).

LAST TIME OUT | vs. North Texas | Oct. 4, 2024 | RECAP
• Despite North Texas earning a sweep of the podium in the 3-meter dive, the Aggies still came away with three points as Addison Pastiak (220.80 points) and Mira Tinani (219.45 points) landed in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
• In the first swim event of the day, NM State’s A relay squad of Thea MasselinkKodi WimanFaye McDonagh and Dijana Mazumday picked up a second-place finish with a time of 3:51.74.
• Kate Rink and Estel Galo then went 1-2 in the 1000 free as the closest Mean Green competitor was over 20 seconds behind Galo.
• The top spot in the 200 free also belonged to an Aggie as junior Naomi Slee earned a narrow victory with a time of 1:54.05 – just six tenths of a second faster than UNT’s Indra Vandenbussche who came in second.
• Freshman Dijana Mazumday then collected her first collegiate win as she turned in the fastest time in the 50 free – reaching the wall at 23.67. Additionally, Kathryn Gyde secured third place in the event with a time of 24.36.
• Thea Masselink then submitted a strong showing in the 200 back – collecting a first-place finish with a time of 2:06.28 to earn nine points for the home side.
• Lastly, the Aggies’ A relay team claimed second in the 400 free relay to conclude the meet. The team consisted of Katie RinkNaomi SleeCaroline Costantini and anchor Kira Brownell.
