Nine Teams Seeded in State Soccer Championships-Centennial and Santa Teresa Double Up

Class 5A Boys Soccer State Championships

Top ranked Centennial garnered the top seed in Class 5A, earning a first-round BYE. Seven seed Gadsden hosts Hobbs in 1st Round on October 29.

Class 4A Boys Soccer State Championships

Santa Teresa earned a three seed, and a first round BYE. Five seed Chaparral hosts Bloomfield in 1st Round on October 29.

Class 5A Girls Soccer State Championships

Four team from our broader community were seeded in the Class 5A Girls State Championships, with Las Cruces earning a two seed and first round BYE. Six seed Mayfield hosts Farmington and eight seed Centennial hosts Cibola at the Field of Dreams Soccer Complex on October 29, while Organ Mountain travels to Hobbs for their 1st Round match.

Class 4A Girls Soccer State Championships

Despite a commanding presence in district play, Santa Teresa was seeded 8th in the championship bracket. The Lady Warriors host Bloomfield for their 1st Round Match at Dream Catcher Stadium on October 29^th. This Desert Warriors team earned the third best overall record among Class 4A schools, and was undefeated in district play, yet was seeded eighth–denying them a first round BYE. [Las Cruces Digest recognizes a potential problem using a third-party computer algorithm to determine seeding. Such algorithms have been consistently shown to perpetuate bias.]
