The Organ Mountain Boys Cross Country team took home the District Championship banner in perfect fashion, finishing 1-2-3-4-5. Centennial’s Logan Fonseca took sixth place.

The Mayfield Trojan Girls Cross Country team demonstrated a quintessential aspect of XC team competition–it doesn’t take superstar performances to win a district title. The Trojans put together a winning performance with three juniors and two seniors finishing in the top-ten, none of whom finished in the top four. Mayfield’s top five runners finished as a team, with less than half a minute separating them at the finish line.

Organ Mountain’s Ashley Galaz took first place at the District 3/5A Girls Championship–as an eighth grader. Galaz bested the district’s next three best finishers, all seniors, by at least 45 seconds.
For the top three teams, and top three finishers not on a qualifying team, the next stop is the course at Albuquerque Academy where the State Championships will be run.
