In singles qualifying, Holland Snell set the tone early, taking down Weber State’s William Zulch in a tightly contested 6-4, 6-4 battle. Lance Urlaub followed with a gritty performance against Idaho State’s Sam Wensley, grinding through a tense first-set tiebreak before dominating the second set to close out a 7-6, 6-0 victory. Tobias Wallin, who earned a bye into the second round, impressed as he dispatched BYU’s Otto Schreiner 6-4, 6-2, securing the Aggies’ third win of the day.

In doubles play, the Aggies fought hard in three matches but were unable to convert their efforts into victories.

NM State will return to the courts tomorrow at 9 a.m. in Las Vegas, looking to build on their momentum in singles and improve in doubles on Day Two of the tournament.
