Thomas Croshaw smashes school 5K record, Kloi Bird takes first overall

LONG BEACH, CALIF. / AZUSA, CALIF. / LA VERNE, CALIF. – After a long flight from Las Cruces to Long Beach, the Aggies competed in three separate meets on day one of the trip. Six of the Crimson and White participants set a personal best along with one who shattered yet another record this season.

Field Headlines
In Discus, Alesha Lane finished with the Aggies top mark, throwing a solid 51.07m mark to finish in the top 10 of her field. Later in Shot Put, Kamryn Cadle would throw a 13.46m mark to place 25th in her field as the Aggies closed out the first day at the Beach Invite.

Track Headlines
To kick off for the team, Orion Chavez would blast through the finish with a 14:44.60 personal best mark for the breakfast session of the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Following his early race, NM State would have two more Aggies cross the line with their own PRs as both Marlene Mosqueda (with a time of 2:12.27) and Angela Korte (with a time of 2:09.11) would each share their moments one race after the other in the 800m shuttles.
The final runner at Azusa Pacific on Day 1 to race was Thomas Croshaw. Starting closer to the back of the pack, Croshaw slowly lurked his way up to the top five spot by the final lap. On the final straight away, he found himself chasing down the leader after a strong maneuver around the 2nd and 3rd place spots. Croshaw would edge out unattached runner, Steven Goldy, to claim first in his heat and set a new school record in the 5000m run.

Leopard Distance Carnival | La Verne, Calif.
Track Headlines
The Leopard Distance Carnival consisted of just two runners today, both of which set personal records. Starting with Jordan Torres, she would pace for a phenomenal finish in the Women’s Steeple Chase. Her time of 11:05.80 would put her in the sixth overall spot and break her initial personal best by just over 19 seconds which she set at last year’s Desert Heat Classic in Arizona. Her race followed with the women’s 10,000m race. Kloi Bird set the pace for the other runners as she took home first place with a time of 36:01.24. Bird smashed her initial time of 36:56.20 by 55 seconds to grab the victory in the over the all the heats combined.
