Despite a valiant effort, the Aggies fell 6-1 at the NM State Tennis Center, starting their campaign with a hard-fought but tough result.
In singles play, freshman Montana Parkinson-Lubold delivered the Aggies’ lone victory of the day, showcasing grit and determination in a nail-biting match. Parkinson-Lubold edged out UTSA’s Aoka Nagasawa in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5, battling down to the wire to secure her win. Returner Anna Pinaieva also showed her resilience in a tightly contested match, falling just short in a super tiebreaker, 6-3, 6-2, 10-8.
The doubles competition saw the Aggies push the Roadrunners to their limits but come up just short in all three matches. The pairing of Nadia Nemeth and Anna Pinaieva nearly captured a win against Vittoria Baccino and Letizia Corsini, falling in a tense tiebreak, 7-6.
