In the ACU Tournament, NM State showed steady improvement, bouncing back after a challenging first day. The Aggies secured five victories on day two, with a couple coming from doubles action. 

Junior Anna Pinaieva capped off the tournament strong, defeating SMU’s June Bjork 6-4, 6-3, (10-3). Freshman Nadia Nemeth impressed throughout the weekend, finishing 2-1 in both singles and doubles, including a 6-4, 6-3, (10-4) win over Tarleton’s Ximena Morales Araneda. Lisa Zhu also secured a win on the final day, advancing over Texas State’s Tadiwanashe Mauchi via walkover. 

The Aggies showed steady improvement after a tough start, ending the tournament with five overall victories, including two from doubles play.

The Aggies will be back in Las Cruces to host the ITA Mountain Regional and the Aggie Classic on Thursday, Oct. 17.
