The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will host a free family event, a Mother’s Day Concert, at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Plaza de Las Cruces, 100 N. Main St.

Join residents in celebrating all the great mothers in our community with live music by Al Hurricane Jr.
Son of the legendary Al Hurricane, Al Hurricane Jr. has proudly carried on the family’s musical legacy by performing heartfelt renditions of New Mexico’s most cherished songs. His dedication to preserving traditional New Mexican music has endeared him to fans both young and old.
With a velvety voice and magnetic stage presence, Al Hurricane, Jr. embodies the spirit and passion that has made him a true local treasure. He has created numerous solo albums and has contributed songs such as “Flor De Las Flores” to New Mexico’s unique style of Spanish music.
Come enjoy music and dancing with your beautiful mom and the family! Food trucks will be on site, and the public is welcome to bring chairs to sit and enjoy the festivities.
This free community concert is the start of the City’s live music season, which will continue May 26, 2024, with the Mayor’s Jazz Fest, kicking off the Parks & Recreation Department’s Music in the Park Series. The popular Music in the Park Series features performances by local, regional, and national acts each Sunday beginning Memorial Day weekend and continuing through August. Artists and locations will be announced soon.
